Totally Behind Part Deux

I know you have heard this before and now here I am saying this again.  I need to post more often.  Uh huh, that’s me, Miss good intentions and no follow through!  Well life has kept me really busy.  However I have managed to find a couple hours a day to get some sewing finished.  So far I’ve made a lap quilt, a wall quilt and a table runner, and decorated a few tea towels.  The project I’m working on now is making a queen sized Sunbonnet Sue/Sunbonnet Sam quilt.  I’m trying to get this finished for a Christmas present for my mom (2014).  Yes, I can say that because she doesn’t use computers so my secret should be fairly safe. :)  Here is a pic of my quilt blocks up on my display wall, (most of them, I still had one row to pin up there) just trying to get a feel for their placement.

Missing You…

I lost my eldest sister to cancer.  It has been 4 1/2 years now and there is still not a single day that goes by that I don’t think of her.  Today was her birthday and my heart is heavy missing her.  She was the quintessential big sister and my go-to person when I had a problem.  She never judged people and I always admired her strength of character. Every one that knew her loved her.

People don’t forget to tell your family you love them every chance you get.  You never know what is going to happen and tomorrow holds no guarantee.

Teresa, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.  I love you and miss you, Happy Birthday.

Dental Visit

I went to the Dentist today and had a tooth pulled.  Ya know, I added it all up and that one little tooth cost me quite a small fortune!   The first visit to get a prescription for antibiotics and an x-ray to tell me that it is infected (even though I already knew this): cost $66.00.  The antibiotics were $24.00.  I scheduled another visit to get the actual extraction done which was another $100.00.  Yes, I know, there are lots of places where the prices are higher, I am not one of the lucky ones that has dental insurance, so that makes things a bit tougher.  Luckily I didn’t have to miss work or that would have just added to the cost.

I was sitting in his chair waiting for the meds to numb my face and adding up all the costs involved in this one small tooth and noticed a print out for me to “like” him on Facebook.  Right next to this printed page was a one page artical that was published in a local newspaper featuring my dentist that had been framed and hung on the wall.  The article was about his dentist office being empty because of people’s financial struggles.  So I guess the Doctor is having financial struggles too!  So I am off to Facebook now to give him a “Like” advertisement so he can build his business and hopefully still be there if I need further dental treatment.  Life goes in circles doesn’t it?

I live in North Alabama and recently we were inundated with tornadoes.  There were over 200 deaths!  The news reports that it was the second deadliest outbreak in the United States.  It was such a sad chain of events.  We had line after line of storms roll through and some towns had more than one tornado.  One town know as Phil Campbell was just devastated!  Almost all the homes, businesses and schools in the whole town was just leveled.

There are lots of homeless people and animals as well.

Just follow the link below to see some of the photos and find out how you can help.

Spring is here!   In my part of the country the trees are in bloom and the ones that aren’t have leaves growing on the trees again, buttercups and tulips are in full bloom, and the weather is back to a warm 72 degrees F.  It totally lifts my spirits to be able to sit outside again and be comfotable!  I’m looking forward to planting a couple of raised beds with vegetables and herbs. (I know, I need more to do! )  Here are a couple pics of spring’s progress!

I Don’t Like Spam!

No matter how careful you are, no matter how many spam filters you apply somehow spammers always find a way to get an email or message through to your inbox.  When are these people going to give it up and go get a real job?  Or are there still enough stupid people clicking their links and filling in those phishing forms to keep them from having to find a day job?  You would think that people would learn!

Gone are the days of instant post blogs and web sites.  This is a necessity to keep the unwanted degenerates out.  It is always the actions of a few that ruin things for the majority. *day dreaming*  Wouldn’t it be lovely to live in a spam -free world?  But alas it is what it is.

Posts on this website have to be approved so to all the would-be spammers out there…don’t bother!  sheesh!

Have you ever had one of those days where you can’t seem to get anything accomplished?  That is me today!  I feel like I am having one of those dreams where you’re running and running but you can’t get away from your pursuer no matter how hard you try!  It’s like running in place.

I’m going to try to focus a little more and see if I can keep this day from being a total loss!

I think I can, I think I can….

Is it just me or have you ever had a day like this?

He’s Still a Hottie

Patrick Stewart was knighted on Wednesday, June second 2010.  He’s a great actor on stage and screen.  I have not seen much of him while he’s not acting except for one interview he did on live television.  In that interview he seemed to be a really nice fellow and had a really good sense of humor.  And just for the record I don’t care how old he is, he’s still a hottie :)
